IN

BLOOM

🌸

🌸

Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year. There's colour everywhere and people begin to fill the streets again after a long cold winter, (Ottawa was hit hard with snow this year) and it's a really lively feeling. Actually, spring is my least favourite season. So far it has been pretty cool, but once the humidity hits i'm no longer a fan.

This post is actually from one of the last hot days in October, but I honestly had so much going on in my life that I never got around to putting this up, but this outfit is perfect for spring. Honestly nothing makes me happier than the sun shining. This day was during the Thanksgiving weekend, and it ended perfectly with the best Gelato (still waiting on trying Gelato in Italy though..)

My favourite thing is dressing down dresses, as ironic as it is. I hate to be to be too formal, and adding sneakers (or any flat) will keeps the dress on the casual side. Adding masculine silhouettes, like a boxy knit, to a form fitting dress keeps the outfit versatile and casual. The tote bag goes well with the look since the dress and shoes are detailed. Having layers adds texture and dimension.

In the past few months, I've finished my first year of university and definitely feel changed with regards to my approach to life, work and responsibilities. These past few months I've definitely learned life is much to short to spend focusing on career, money and grades. I believe since the last year I have figured out the purpose I want to have in my life, but really have become more confused with my career path. It's okay to be lost, as long as you find the road back again.

BLUES

After a long week of classes, my sister and I decided to take a break and walk down the canal. Fall just began, but I assure you it feels much colder. What ever happened to transitional weather? I love scarves, and I think they are great to throw over pretty much anything to brighten a look, and give you an extra layer (a plus!!).

I love how navy blue and they golden tones in this yellow scarf complement eachother. The silhouette of this dress is my absolute favourite. Shirt dresses are the comfiest things to wear, in my opinion, and they come in so many patterns to be either dressed up or down!

WELCOME

ABOARD

Is it just me, or does this neck tie totally channel flight attendant?! I've always had a thing for uniforms, and envisioned myself wearing plaid skirts, crisp collared shirts with structured blazers as a kid. Pretty prep school, right? Now, I don't exactly dress up like that, and wouldn't say it reflects my personal style entirely anymore, but I definitely love certain uniform elements in my everyday look. In this look, the print and tie of the scarf definitely came from flight attendant inspiration. I know that for some people, a uniform is a type of restriction on their personal style, but there are always ways of making a uniform your own.

I found this vibrant street accidentaly while pulling over to figure out where to go. The houses were filled with charm, colour and each house had lush, groomed gardens. The quirky yellow and blue barn combined my favourite colour combination. It seems like it really is true, that you always find what you need when you aren't looking for it.

To keep this "flight attendant" inspired look a little more grounded (haha HA...), I paired it with an off the shoulder shirt which is very popular right now. The loose fit trousers could be substituted with jeans if the shirt is too not form fitting (such as this one that I absolutely love!!). I feel details are everything, sticking with a basic outfit, and adding 2 or more accessories completely transform a look and can be worn in multiple ways. For example, this bag ( courtesy of momma) has its strap tucked in and is worn here as a clutch. So many peices are versatile, you just need to view them from different perspectives.

A little cliché qoute to end this post, one of my favourites: " Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine"- Ralph Waldo Emerson ☀️
